The message of this video is that drugs are dangerous and that they should not be consumed in any form by anyone. This video is aimed towards the general public. It was created so that it could reach people who are thinking of doing drugs to help prevent them from making a bad decision. My hopes are that this message will also get across people who have drug addictions so that their lives could change for the good of the world. This PSA is effective because it shows that drugs can cause death and death is something everyone fears. Death its the ultimate consequence of drug consumption, and everyone knows that. But they do not take it seriously until they see it happen so I am showing them death before it actually occurs. I am counting on fear so that it will enable them from putting their lives at risk. I had many roles in my project because I worked on it individually. My first role was choosing a topic, and coming up with a story board for that topic. This took me around 30 minutes to create. After that I started filming everything I needed to film with the flip camera and it took me another 30 minutes. But the actual hard part was editing everything, this process was the most challenging. Firstly, I had to import all of the material I was going to use inside the browser using the film editing program called Final Cut Express. Secondly, I had to put all of the recorded material in order and edit it. Then after that I put the audio and edit it so that it matched the video part of my PSA. I gotta say the difficult part about the editing process is being creative because there were so many effects that could be applied, but I had to make sure the effects made the video look better and I had to make sure that the effects did not make the audience attention from the actual message of the PSA. This process took me around 3 hours, and I learned more about Final Cut Express and I learned more about the effects I could create. My last and final role was exporting my video into youtube and into this blog. This role was the easiest it only took me like 10 minutes to do.

Message:For assignment #4 I plan to do a PSA about drugs. This PSA will illustrate how bad drugs are and how they can damage your life.

Messengers: For this topic i think it will be good to have a lot of people in it but due to the short amount of time and due to the fact that it has to be short I think it will be most appropriate if I am the only one in the video.

Format: This should be like a demonstration/monologue

Audience:This PSA is for the general public,  people who are in danger of falling into drugs, andpeople who are already affected by drugs

Action: After watching this video I will like the viewers to try eradicating drugs from their lives if they are doing them, and for the rest of the people my hopes are that they will try to get the message across other people.

I decided to make a silent film for my assignment #3 and I decided to make it about Hurricane Katrina. In this video in the very beginning I am not able to sleep, so I am turning and turning around my bed until I fall. When I fall from my bed I appear in some other place,  soart of like a dream world or illusion that my mind is playing. In that illusion I have written in my hand Hurricane. Then suddenly i fall again and I get up again but this time something on my arm is written, which says Katrina. Then I start having this vision of a hurricane and people affected by it. I get frustrated because I can not do anything about it. Then I have another vision with help on their way to aid the people and finally my mind is relaxed and I am able to go to sleep. Basically I had a premonition of what was going to happen in New Orleans with Hurricane Katrina and I was upset that I was not able to do anything about it. But my brained calmed down after I knew that the people were going to be alright.

My plan for this assignment is to either do a silent film on the topic of love, or to do a music video that shows how music and dance has changed since the 20th Century. But for right now I can not due much work because I am having technical difficulties but hopefully I will clear that up so I can have a solid foundation. But for now I am just outlining how my project is going to look like. 

I created this video with one simple purpose and that is to inform the general public about global warming. I know that there are many contradictions and some people say that global warming is just a cyclical process the planet goes every couple of a million years and some say that this process is being sped up by our daily human activities. I in particular am not sure who to believe, but all I know is  that we are doing something wrong by polluting our planet. This video is not meant to change anyones perspective of global warming but I am just giving you my view point in this topic. I hope that you will enjoy this video.

For assignment #2 I am actually debating on doing one of the several things: I want to do a short documentary of how the cafeteria food at UC Berkeley affects the students and their regular lives, I also want to do a documentary illustrating how the world is becoming more technological and more dependent on technology everyday, or I was also thinking of doing a short video on how lack of sleep affects a persons life. I am still indecisive, but hopefully soon ill be able to make up my mind. What I am really trying to focus on is trying to do a video that has an impact on people, but that it is also comical in some way to make it entertaining. This is my plan and ill do my best to create a good video.

Hello, my name is Francisco Betancourt. I am from East Palo Alto, and I attend East Palo Alto High School. I am a member of SMASH and in SMASH I am part of the Tech II class. For our first assignment in this class we were supposed to create a video and post it on youtube. In the video we were required to include some interviews we recorded in each of our groups. For my group we had to answer three questions each, those questions were,”What is one movie that really inspired you?”, “Is there anyone in your family always trying to record everything?”, and, “If you could show the world anything about SMASH what would it be and why?”. After that we took all the videos and made our own version on a computer program called Final Cut Express which is used to create and edit videos. During this process I added music to the background of the video, I repeated some parts, and I also included a bunch of other special effects. After I was done editing the video that I created I uploaded it into youtube and then I was done. I gotta say that this experience has bee really good because I came in not knowing anything about videos and how they were made but now I have a more broad understanding of what people that are on the film business have to go through everyday of their lives.
